It's Time to Get Things Started with the Muppet Show Revival

The Muppets and Bill Prady (inset)
In case you've been walled up in a basement by pigs with only a spoon to make your escape, you may have missed the amazing news - The Muppets are getting a revival on ABC!

The Hollywood Reporter and other news sources tell us that the new series will be filming a pilot that could go straight to series. The new pilot is being co-written by Bill Prady of The Big Bang Theory and Bob Kushell of Anger Managment and 3rd Rock from the Sun and will be executive produced and directed by Randall Einhorn of Wilfred.

The show be a variety format with old and probably new characters alike. A mention of Fozzie and his girlfriend seems interesting. The pilot episode is said to have the Muppets meeting at ABC studios to discuss the new Muppet Show, but Miss Piggy is holding things up.

I certainly hope the show will be picked up. We had a close call a few years back when a pilot was being shopped around but was ultimately passed on. As Muppet Moments premieres on Disney Junior today, let's hope we get Muppets in more than just interstitial and short clips. Let's also hope that we get a full cast of characters. It seems that past characters, like Robin, Sweetums, and the crew of the Swinetrek, have been pushed aside for the creation of new characters like Walter and Constantine.

Buzzfeed also has an interview full of amazing gifs of Kermit answering 29 questions. He tells all about karaoke, divas, Miss Piggy, and One Direction. Check it out!

Disney Junior premiered Muppet Moments today on Disney Junior. You can check out a few of them on Disney Junior's Youtube page! Muppets and kids talk about counting, silly faces, hugs, and singing. And Rowlf's there!

Now go watch some Muppets!

Mildred Huxtetter

Name: Mildred Huxtetter
First Seen: The Muppets Valentine Show

Mildred Huxtetter is a character from The Muppet Show who carries herself quite well. She is slightly aristocratic and often seems above the Muppets antics. She's almost like Sam Eagle, but she regularly participates in what is happening backstage. She has a BA, MA, PhD, OBE, and RSVP.

Her first appearance was in The Muppets Valentine Show, where she had a considerable part. Later, on The Muppet Show, she would appear mainly in the At the Dance sketches, often paired with George the Janitor. Mildred however, was never really given a greater role in the show. She didn't really have a job at the theatre, nor did she seem to be an actress. Though both are possible.

After the first season, Mildred shrunk away. She would appear in background roles in many Muppet television productions and in some of the movies. She was most recently seen in Muppets Most Wanted.

Mildred has had many performers during her career, including Frank Oz, Richard Hunt, Dave Goelz, and Louise Gold.

The Fazoobs

Name: The Fazoobs
First Seen in: The Muppet Show (Steve Martin episode 208)

The Fazoobs are a group of four koozebanians that auditioned on The Muppet Show. Each of the aliens in the group can use part of their body as a musical instrument. Though musically inclined, the music they play even seems alien for The Muppets. As far as we know, they did not make Kermit's cut.

Though this group of Fazoobs does not become a regular act on The Muppet Show, the individual characters continued to make appearances in other Muppet productions. Look carefully in the pews during the wedding of Piggy and Kermit in The Muppets Take Manhattan.

I really like this weird little group and the context in which the show up works really well. Hopefully we'll see more of these guys! They not only were they appealing visually, but they had a fun act that could only be from outer-space.
