Genie

Name: Genie
First Seen: Aladdin (1992)

When it comes to phenomenal cosmic power, no one surpasses the ever impressive, long-contained, often-imitated, but never duplicated genie of the lamp. Genie is freed from his itty bitty living space when Aladdin finds the lamp in the cave of wonders.

As with most genie legends, Genie can grant three wishes. However, there are some rules: he cannot kill, he cannot make people fall in love, and he cannot bring people back from the dead. But he can do everything else! Except free himself from being a slave.

After getting his freedom, Genie would end up hanging around with Aladdin for two more films and a television series that lasted from 1994-1996. He also appears in Kingdom Hearts as a summon and in Disneyland Kinect Adventuers, as well as others. Genie is present in the Disney Parks occasionally as a meet-and-greet character and on parade floats in Mickey's Soundsational Parade and Spectromagic.

Genie was brought to life by the amazing Robin Williams. His ad-libbed lines during recording sessions made Genie one of the most genuine and spontaneous characters. Eric Goldberg, the supervising animator, had the task of choosing the funniest bits to animate.

Genie is probably the most popular character in the Aladdin franchise. And why wouldn't be be, as Genie said himself, "You ain't never had a friend like me!"
